On my android 2.3 phone i've exported my contacts and imported them on my new android 4.4 phone, a motorola g. unfortunately, i found no way to edit the contact. when i open the "phone" application from the main screen, i click "all contacts" (translated) to get the list of all contacts. but as soon as i click on one item, it dials.. Backup contacts; go to edit contact of the one you wanna change. copy the number of that contact. delete the contact. go to whatapp and refresh whatsapp contacts. add the contact number you copied with the desired name you want as a "new contact" in your address book.. Nexus 5 marshmallow. i've found that it's not possible to edit a contact name (google contacts). it goes through the motions, but leaves the name unchanged. i've tried several different contact apps, same result. now when i go to the web interface on my desktop, i find that the name has been changed.

Hello, about a week ago i noticed that i could no longer edit my contacts. typically, you can click on a contact and on the top-right there will be a pencil to edit the contact. however, that icon has been replaced with a little person with a "+" sign with the text displaying "add to contacts" (when hovered over)..
